About

Leslie McGee, RN LAcMy journey as a health care practitioner began in nursing school where I received a bachelor’s degree in nursing, cum laude, from the University of Washington in 1978. I worked in hospital settings as an R.N. for many years, and had experience with general medical-surgical, cardiac, orthopedic, and neurological nursing. After several years I began to see the areas where Western medicine fails and was drawn to studying acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

I completed a 3-year Masters degree program at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, NM in 1993. Since then I have maintained a private practice in Tucson, Arizona. I have had additional training in Traditional Chinese Medicine gynecology with Bob Flaws, scalp acupuncture with Dr. Ming Qing Zhu, pain treatment with Matt Callison, and infertility with Dr. Randine Lewis. My recent educational interests include Pain Neutralization Technique by Stephen Kaufmann, DC, as well as German Auricular Medicine.

I am certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in both acupuncture and Chinese herbology. Since 2002 I have been a contributing writer and lecturer for Andrew Weil’s Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine. I was selected to write the chapter on Chinese medicine in Integrative Women’s Health edited by Maizes and Low Dog published by Oxford University Press.

My research experience includes participating in projects on depression, cerebral palsy, and tempo-mandibular joint dysfunction.

In 2007 I served as President of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM), the national professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence and integrity in the field of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

My background in both Western and Chinese medicine gives me a special capacity to think about illness from both perspectives. My passion for teaching is a key part of my practice and my goal is to empower my clients on their journey toward health and wholeness.
